Residency Modalities

Two formats are available to suit your situation:

  • Option A: Continuous Residency (2 months): Open to all laureates. A consecutive 2-month stay in one or several islands of French Polynesia.
  • Option B: Split Residency (2 x 1 month):Exclusively reserved for laureates residing in French Polynesia.
  • Note on destinations : Host locations are suggested by the Association. Any specific request for a particular island must be justified by the writing project and remains subject to approval (the presence of a school on-site is mandatory for educational outreach).
Support and Commitments

What AETI provides:

  • Travel: International and inter-island airfare.
  • Accommodation: Lodging in guesthouses (pensions) or with local families.
  • Catering: Coverage of meal expenses (half-board or a monthly meal allowance).
  • Logistics: Full coverage of transport and catering costs.
  • Stipend: An allowance of 200,000 XPF per month (totaling 400,000 XPF for the full residency).
  • Promotion: Organization of meetings and events to promote your work.
Your commitments:
  • Carry out your project with professionalism and respect the residency schedule.
  • Actively participate in cultural life (public meetings, educational workshops in schools).
  • Produce an « experience report » text at the end of the immersion.
  • Keep AETI informed of the project’s progress (publication, awards, contests) throughout 2027.
Eligible candidates

The call is open to authors who meet the following criteria:

  • Origin: Native to or resident of the Pacific region.
  • Experience: Must have been previously published by a professional publishing house (proof required).
  • Categories: Literature.
  • Languages: Projects written in French, English, or Oceanian languages.

  2. A presentation of your background: Biography and writing experience (written or video format).
  3. A presentation letter for your current writing project.
  4. An excerpt of your previously published work.
  5. Supporting documents: Copy of ID, proof of residence, and publishing contract.

2026 Selection Timeline
    • March 20: Launch of the call for applications.
    • May 31: Application deadline.
    • Mid-June: Jury deliberation (composed of State, Local Government, and local author representatives).
    • End of June: Announcement of winners.
    • October 15–18: Participation in the « Lire en Polynésie » Book Fair in Papeete.
    • Sept. 20 – Dec. 31: Residency period (depending on the chosen option).
